About Sara Sophia Rose
Sara Sophia Rose is a healer, writer, mother, teacher, dancer, thinker, and feeler who discovered God on the dance floor in Detroit, and then all over the place. She lives for transcendental dance floor moments and considers herself a disciple of Divine Love.
Sara describes herself as a cultural regeneratist who exists in the places where science meets spirit, grief becomes joy, death brings new life, and everything is remembered as sacred again.
She offers 1:1 healing and consultations, retreats, and group programs as part of her work to build beautiful community, bring people together, and regenerate culture.
She is especially passionate about helping people recover from trauma, addiction, and the effects of growing up in dysfunctional and alcoholic family systems.
She has been leading dance events and workshops since the early 2000s. DANCE YOUR PRAYERS! is an offering of her heart.
Sara is certified as a sex educator for grades 7-12 through Our Whole Lives (OWL). She educated 1000s of University of Michigan students, staff, and southeastern Michigan residents through her education and advocacy work with The University of Michigan Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center.
Sara graduated from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature and sociology subconcentrations in Social Inequalities and Community Action for Social Change.
In 2017, Sara teamed up with holistic psychotherapist and LMSW Carisa Wilder to conceptualize and organize two #MeToo Storytelling Salons, open-mic style events for survivors of sexual violence to share their stories in a warm, supportive setting. Hosted by Sara and staffed by trauma-informed therapists and volunteer practitioners, survivors came from around the country for the salons. The second event was promoted by The Purple Rose Theater Company in tandem with the world premiere play “Never Not Once” by Carey Crim.
Sara’s writing has been featured in The Crazy Wisdom Journal, The Michigan Daily, Redbook magazine, and she served as the Michigan State Lead for the 2009-2010 Love Is Not Abuse campaign to stop teen dating violence.
